Architecture of Continuity 2027

The Architects Association Inaugural Conference

11–12 March 2027 (provisional)
Oatlands, Tasmania, Australia

Traditional Architecture and Urbanism

The Architects Association is pleased to announce its inaugural conference, Architecture of Continuity, planned for March 2027 in the historic town of Oatlands, Tasmania.

Bringing together architects, academics, craftspeople, builders, students and others interested in traditional architecture, the conference will explore the enduring principles of beautiful, locally characteristic and sustainable buildings and settlements.

The conference will be dedicated to the memory of Leon Krier, whose work and writings have profoundly influenced the revival of traditional architecture and urbanism internationally.

Conference Themes

The programme is being developed around traditional and classical architecture, vernacular building traditions, craftsmanship, traditional materials and construction methods, architectural education, and the design of beautiful and enduring towns and cities.

Presentations, discussions and opportunities for professional exchange will draw on Australian, New Zealand, Pacific and international experience.

The conference aims to offer approximately 10 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD), subject to programme confirmation and applicable professional requirements.

Attend and Participate

The conference will be open to members and non-members of The Architects Association, including visitors from overseas.

We welcome initial enquiries from prospective presenters, supporting organisations and others wishing to contribute.

Further details, including speakers, programme, venue and registration, will be announced shortly.
